Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the DCS-4802E Vigilance Full HD Outdoor PoE Mini Dome Camera. The DCS-4802E is a
professional surveillance and security solution for small, medium, and large enterprises alike. The DCS-4802E uses a Full HD
progressive scan CMOS sensor; the professional sensor results in low noise and high sensitivity capabilities ideal for surveillance
applications.
The DCS-4802E is a complete system with a built-in CPU and incorporates a web server, allowing it to transmit excellent real-
time Full HD resolution video for security and outdoor surveillance.
The DCS-4802E can be accessed remotely, controlled and congured from any PC/Notebook over your local network or through
the Internet via a web browser. The simple installation and intuitive web-based interface oer easy conguration across the
full range of its advanced feature set, including granular control over multiple video streams with dierent congurations and
multicast video streams which helps you manage your network load.
The DCS-4802E has an IP66 certied weatherproof housing designed for both indoor and outdoor applications. The built-in
removable IR-cut lter and IR LEDs give the DCS-4802E the capability to view up to 20M at night. The DCS-4802E also incorporates
Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing it to be easily installed in a variety of locations without the need for supplemental power
cabling. The combination of IP66 weatherproof housing, IR-Cut Filter, IR LEDs, and PoE make the DCS-4802E an ideal solution
for a dependable and cost-eective 24 hour surveillance solution with easy clutter-free installation.

Simple to Maintain
The DCS-4802E is a stand-alone system with a built-in CPU, requiring no special hardware or software. The DCS-4802E can be viewed and managed
through most web browsers, including Internet Explorer®, Firefox®, and Safari®.
Supports a Variety of Platforms
With support for TCP/IP networking, HTTP, and other Internet related protocols, the DCS-4802E can also be integrated easily into other Internet/
Intranet applications because of its standards-based features. The DCS-4802E works with any 10/100 Ethernet network, making the DCS-4802E
easy to integrate into your existing network environment.
Advanced Event Management
The DCS-4802E can be set up to send e-mail notications with snapshots when an event occurs, such as when motion is detected. Events can be
triggered from several sources, such as motion detection and time based events.
IR LEDs for Day and Night Functionality
The built-in infrared LEDs enable night time viewing of up to 20 meters.
IP66 Weatherproof Housing
The DCS-4802E uses an IP66 weatherproof housing, allowing you to rest assured that in the toughest of conditions, it will continue to provide
round-the-clock surveillance.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) for Flexible Installation
The DCS-4802E can draw all the power it needs from a PoE switch or PoE injector for a simple and clutter-free installation.
Remote Monitoring Utility
The D-ViewCam application adds enhanced features and functionality for the Network Camera and allows administrators to congure and access
the Network Camera from a remote site via Intranet or Internet. Other features include image monitoring, recording images to a hard drive, viewing
up to 32 cameras on one screen, and taking snapshots.

Installation
Connecting the Camera
You can power the DCS-4802E two dierent ways: through PoE or through a power adapter.
Powering the camera through PoE (Class 2):
Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN(PoE) port on the camera. Connect the
other end of the cable to your PoE switch or PoE injector.
Powering the camera through a power adapter (not included):
Connect a 12 V, 1.5 A power adapter to the power connector.
Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN(PoE) port on the camera. Connect the
other end of the cable to your network.

Mounting the Camera
It is highly recommended that you congure and test your camera before mounting it.
Step 1
Place the mounting sticker where you want to position the camera.
Use a 6 mm drill bit to make the required holes approximately 25 mm deep, then
insert the wall anchors into the holes.
If you are running the camera cables through the wall or ceiling, drill a hole
in the center and pull the cables through the hole.
Step 2
Use the screws provided to mount the camera to the wall.
If you are running the camera cables out the side of the camera, guide the
camera cables through the cable channel on the base.

Step 3
Attach the camera base cover by lining up the cable channel on it with the mark
on the camera base, then turn the camera base cover clockwise until it clicks.

Using the DCS-37-1 Mount (optional)
To mount the camera with the DCS-37-1 mount, follow the instructions below.
Step 2
Use the provided screws to mount the DCS-37-1 to the wall.
Step 3
Remove the cover from the camera.
Pass the camera connectors through the back or bottom cable channel on the
DCS-37-1. Use the provided screws to mount the camera to the DCS-37-1 using
the set of mounting holes marked B.
Step 1
Place the DCS-37-1 mounting sticker in the desired location, then use a 6 mm
drill bit to drill the required holes 25 mm deep and insert the wall anchors into
the holes. If you plan to pass cables through the wall, you will also need to drill
a hole for the cable channel.

Adjust the angle of the camera as desired, then put the cover back on the camera
and rotate it clockwise to lock it in place.
Step 5
If you are passing the camera cables through the wall, place the rubber stopper
into the bottom cable channel to seal it.

Using the DCS-37-2 Mount (optional)
Step 1
Place the DCS-37-2 mounting sticker in the desired location, then use a 6 mm
drill bit to drill the required holes 25 mm deep and insert the wall anchors into
the holes. If you plan to pass cables through the wall, you will also need to drill
a hole for the cable channel.
To mount the camera with the DCS-37-2 mount, follow the instructions below.
Step 2
Use the provided screws to mount the DCS-37-2 to the wall using the inner
mounting holes.
Step 3
Remove the cover from the camera.
Pass the camera connectors through the back or side cable channel on the DCS-
37-2. Use the provided screws to mount the camera to the DCS-37-2 using the
set of mounting holes marked B.

Waterproong Your Installation
Step 1
Place the washer around the base of the Ethernet connector as shown.
To waterproof your camera installation, follow the instructions below. Round Ethernet cable, a crimping tool, and RJ-45 plugs
are required for this procedure.
Step 2
Thread bare Ethernet cable through the waterproof connector as shown, then
crimp an RJ-45 plug onto the cable.

Step 4
Screw the back part of the waterproof connector clockwise until there is a tight
seal around the Ethernet cable.
Step 3
Connect the RJ-45 plug into the Ethernet connector, then screw the waterproof
connector to the Ethernet connector by turning it about a half-turn clockwise.
If you are using PoE to power your camera, use the included rubber power
connector plug to the power connector.

If you are using a power adapter (not included) to power your camera, wind
waterproof tape around the connection in an overlapping manner to cover it.

Step 1
Insert the DCS-4802E CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive to begin the
installation.
If the Autorun function on your computer is disabled, or if the D-Link Launcher
fails to start automatically, click the Start button and type D:\autorun.exe (where
D: represents the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive) and press Enter.
Step 2
Click on the D-Link Setup Wizard SE icon that was created in your Windows Start
menu (Start > D-Link > Setup Wizard SE).

Step 4
Enter the Admin ID and password. When logging in for the rst time, the default
Admin ID is admin with the password left blank.
Click the checkboxes if you wish to change the admin ID and password for the
camera, and enter the new ID and password you wish to use.
Click Next to continue.
Step 3
The Setup Wizard will appear and display the MAC address and IP address of your
camera(s). If you have a DHCP server on your network, a valid IP Address will be
displayed. If your network does not use a DHCP server, the network camera's
default static IP 192.168.0.20 will be displayed.
Select your camera, then click the Wizard button to continue.

Step 6
Take a moment to conrm your settings and click Restart.
Step 5
Select DHCP if your camera obtains an IP address automatically from a DHCP
server such as a router. Select Static IP if you want to manually enter the IP
settings for the camera.

Conguration
Using the Conguration Interface
After completing the Camera Installation Wizard, you are ready to use your camera. The camera’s built-in Web conguration
utility is designed to allow you to easily access and congure your DCS-4802E. At the end of the wizard, click Link, or enter
the IP address of your camera into a web browser, such as Firefox. To log in, use the User name admin and the password you
created in the Installation Wizard. If you did not create a password, the default password is blank. After entering your password,
click OK.
Step 1
Click on the D-Link Setup Wizard SE icon that was created in your Windows Start
menu (Start > D-Link > Setup Wizard SE).
Step 2
Select the camera and click Link to access the web conguration.
The Setup Wizard will automatically open your web browser to the IP address of
the camera.

Enter admin as the default username and leave the password blank. Click OK to
continue.
Step 4
This section displays your camera’s live video. You can select your video prole
and view or operate the camera.

Live Video
This section shows your camera’s live video. You may select any of the available icons listed below to operate the camera. You may also select your
language using the drop-down menu on the left side of the screen.
You can zoom in and out on the live video image using your mouse. Right-click to zoom out or left-click to zoom in on the image.
Motion Trigger
Indicator
This indicator will change color when a trigger event occurs.
Note: The video motion feature for your camera must be
enabled.
Recording
Indicator
When a recording is in progress, this indicator will change
color.
Control Pad
This control pad can be used to electronically pan, tilt, and
zoom (ePTZ) within the camera's predened view area, if one
has been dened.
Auto Pan Starts the automatic panning function. The ROI will pan from
back and forth within the FOV.
Stop Stops the camera ePTZ motion.
Preset Path Starts the camera's motion along the predened path.

Setup
Setup Wizard
To congure your Network Camera, click Internet Connection Setup Wizard. Alternatively,
you may click Manual Internet Connection Setup to manually congure your Network
Camera and skip to "Network Setup" on page 30.
To quickly congure your Network Camera’s motion detection settings, click Motion
Detection Setup Wizard. If you want to enter your settings without running the wizard, click
Manual Motion Detection Setup and skip to"Motion Detection" on page 40.

Internet Connection Setup Wizard
This wizard will guide you through a step-by-step process to congure your new D-Link
Camera and connect the camera to the internet. Click Next to continue.
Select how the camera will connect to the Internet.
If your camera is connected to a router, or you are unsure how your camera will
connect to the Internet, select DHCP Connection.
Select Static IP if your Internet Service Provider has provided you with connection settings, or
if you wish to set a static address within your home network. Enter the correct conguration
information and click Next to continue.
If you are using PPPoE, select Enable PPPoE and enter your user name and password.
Click Next to continue.

If you have a Dynamic DNS account and would like the camera to update your IP address
automatically, Select Enable DDNS and enter your host information. Click Next to continue.
Enter a name for your camera and click Next to continue.
Congure the correct time to ensure that all events will be triggered as scheduled. Click Next
to continue.
If you have selected DHCP, you will see a summary of your settings, including the camera's IP
address. Please write down all of this information as you will need it in order to access your
camera.
Click Apply to save your settings.

This wizard will guide you through a step-by-step process to congure your camera's
motion detection functions.
Click Next to continue.
Motion Detection Setup Wizard
Step 1
This step will allow you to enable or disable motion detection, specify the detection sensitivity,
and adjust the camera’s ability to detect movement.
You may specify whether the camera should capture a snapshot or a video clip when motion
is detected.
Refer to "Motion Detection" on page 40 for information about how to congure motion
detection.
Step 2
This step allows you to enable motion detection based on a customized schedule. Specify the
day and hours. You may also choose to always record whenever motion is detected.

This step allows you to specify how you will receive event notications from your camera. You
may choose not to receive notications, or to receive notications via e-mail or FTP.
Please enter the relevant information for your e-mail or FTP account.

Network Setup
Use this section to congure the network connections for your camera. All relevant information must be entered accurately. After making any
changes, click the Save Settings button to save your changes.

This section lets you congure settings for your local
area network.
Select this connection if you have a DHCP server running
on your network and would like your camera to obtain
an IP address automatically.
If you choose DHCP, you do not need to ll out the IP
address settings.
You may obtain a static or xed IP address and other
network information from your network administrator
for your camera. A static IP address may simplify access
to your camera in the future.
Enter the xed IP address in this eld.
This number is used to determine if the destination is in
the same subnet. The default value is 255.255.255.0.
The gateway used to forward frames to destinations in a
dierent subnet. Invalid gateway settings may cause the
failure of transmissions to a dierent subnet.
The primary domain name server translates names to IP
addresses.
The secondary DNS acts as a backup to the primary DNS.

Enabling this setting allows your camera to be congured
as a UPnP device on your network.
Enabling this setting allows the camera to add port
forwarding entries into the router automatically on a
UPnP capable network.
Enable this setting if your network uses PPPoE.
Enter the username and password for your PPPoE
account. Re-enter your password in the Conrm
Password eld. You may obtain this information from
your ISP.
The default port number is 80.
The default name is video#.mjpg, where # is the number
of the stream.
You may use a PC with a secure browser to connect to
the HTTPS port of the camera. The default port number
is 443.
Choose to enable or disable RTSP digest encryption.
Digest encryption uses MD5 hashes.
The port number that you use for RTSP streaming to
mobile devices, such as mobile phones or PDAs. The
default port number is 554. You may specify the address
of a particular stream. For instance, live1.sdp can be
accessed at rtsp://x.x.x.x/video1.sdp where the x.x.x.x
represents the IP address of your camera.
Enabling the Class of Service setting implements a
best-eort policy without making any bandwidth
reservations.

Enabling QoS allows you to specify a trac priority
policy to ensure a consistent Quality of Service during
busy periods. If the Network Camera is connected to a
router that itself implements QoS, the router's settings
will override the QoS settings of the camera.
Enabling this setting will enable use of the IPv6 protocol.
Click the IPv6 Information button to see the camera's
current IPv6 details, or you can check Manually setup
the IP address to manually set up the IP address, specify
a default router, and set the primary DNS.
The DCS-4802E allows you to multicast each of the
available streams via group address and specify the TTL
value for each stream. Enter the port and TTL settings
you wish to use if you do not want to use the defaults.
Enable this to allow other network devices to connect to
this camera using Bonjour.
Enter the name to identify this camera on Bonjour.

Dynamic DNS
DDNS allows you to access your camera using a domain name instead of an IP address. To do this, you will need to have an account with one of the
DDNS services listed in the drop-down box on this page.

menu or enter the server address manually.
Enter the host name of the DDNS server.

Enter the DNS timeout values you wish to use.
Indicates the connection status, which is automatically
determined by the system.

Image Setup
In this section, you may congure the video image settings for your camera. A preview of the image will be shown in Live Video.

White Balance:
The Privacy Mask setting allows you to specify up to 3
rectangular areas on the camera's image to be blocked/
excluded from recordings and snapshots.
You may click and drag the mouse cursor over the
camera image to draw a mask area. Right clicking on the
camera image brings up the following menu options:
Disable All: Disables all mask areas
Enable All: Enables all mask areas
Reset All: Clears all mask areas.
This will mirror the image horizontally.
This will ip the image vertically. When turning Flip on,
you may want to consider turning Mirror on as well.
Select the frequency used by your power lines to avoid
interference or distortion.
Use the drop-down box to change white balance settings
to help balance colors for dierent environments. You
can choose from Auto, Outdoor, Indoor, Fluorescent,
and Push Hold.

Changes the exposure mode. Use the drop-down
box to set the camera for Indoor, Outdoor, or Night
environments, or to Moving to capture moving objects.
The Low Noise option will focus on creating a high-
quality picture with reduced noise when monitoring
low-light environments. You can also create 3 dierent
custom exposure modes. The Max Gain setting will allow
you to control the maximum amount of gain to apply to
brighten the picture.
This setting controls the amount of noise reduction that
will be applied to the picture.
Adjust this setting to compensate for backlit subjects.
Adjust this setting to alter the color intensity/strength.
This setting controls the amount of coloration, from
grayscale to fully saturated.
Specify a value from 0 to 8 to specify how much
sharpening to apply to the image.
WDR makes it easier to see objects that may appear dark
due to strong backlighting conditions during the daytime.
Higher WDR levels will make it easier to see objects in
shadows.
3D ltering reduces the amount of image noise when
viewing a low-light environment. Higher levels of 3D
ltering will apply stronger levels of noise reduction.
Click this button to reset the image to factory default
settings.

Video
You may congure up to 3 video proles with dierent settings for your camera. Hence, you may set up dierent proles for your computer and
mobile display. After making any changes, click the Save Settings button to save your changes.

Set the aspect ratio of the video to 4:3 standard or 16:9
widescreen.
Set the video codec to be used to JPEG, MPEG-4, or
H.264.
Frame size determines the total capture resolution, and
View window area determines the Live Video viewing
window size. If the Frame size is larger than the Live
Video size, you can use the ePTZ controls to look around.

Note: If your View window area is the same as your Frame
size, you will not be able to use the ePTZ function.
A higher frame rate provides smoother motion for
videos, and requires more bandwidth. Lower frame
rates will result in stuttering motion, and requires less
bandwidth.

This limits the maximum frame rate, which can be
combined with the "Fixed quality" option to optimize
the bandwidth utilization and video quality. If xed
bandwidth utilization is desired regardless of the video
quality, choose "Constant bit rate" and select the desired
bandwidth.
The bps will aect the bit rate of the video recorded
by the camera. Higher bit rates result in higher video
quality.
Select the image quality level for the camera to try to
maintain. High quality levels will result in increased bit
rates.

Preset
This screen allows you to set preset points for the ePTZ function of the camera, which allows you to look around the camera's viewable area by
using a zoomed view. Presets allow you to quickly go to and view a specic part of the area your camera is covering, and you can create preset
sequences, which will automatically change the camera's view between the dierent presets according to a dened order and timing you can set.
Note: If your View window area is the same as your Frame size, you will not be able to use the ePTZ function.

This selects which video prole to use.
You may select a value between 0 and 10. 0 is the slowest
and 10 is the fastest.
Use these buttons to move to a specic part of the
viewing area, which you can then set as a preset. Click
the Home button to return to the center of the viewing
area.
Enter the name of the preset you want to create, then
click the Add button to make a new preset. If an existing
preset has been selected from the Preset List, you can
change its name by typing in a new name, then clicking
the Rename button.
Click this drop-down box to see a list of all the presets
that have been created. You can select one, then click
the GoTo button to change the displayed camera view
to the preset. Clicking the Remove button will delete
the currently selected preset.
This section allows you to create a preset sequence,
which automatically moves the camera's view between
a set of preset views.

Preset List: To add a preset to the sequence, select it from the drop-
down box at the bottom of this window, set the Dwell
time to determine how long the camera view will stay at
that preset, then click the Add button. The preset name
will appear in the list, followed by the dwell time to view
that preset for.
You can rearrange your presets in the sequence by
selecting a preset in the sequence, then clicking the
arrow buttons to move it higher or lower in the current
sequence.
Clicking the trash can button will remove the currently
selected preset from the sequence.
If you want to change the dwell time for a preset, select
it from the list, enter a new dwell time, then click the
Update button.

Motion Detection
Motion detection enables the camera to monitor the video feed for movement. Here, you can adjust the sensitivity settings that determine whether
motion is detected by the camera or not. After making any changes, click the Save Settings button to save your changes.

would like to monitor for motion.
To erase a motion detection area, simply click on the red
square that you wish to remove.

Event Setup
In a typical application, when motion is detected, the DCS-4802E sends images to a FTP server or via e-mail as notications. As shown in the
illustration below, an event can be triggered by many sources, such as motion detection. When an event is triggered, a specied action will be
performed. You can congure the Network Camera to send snapshots or videos to your e-mail address or FTP site.
To start plotting an event, it is suggested to congure server and media columns rst so that the Network Camera will know what action shall be
performed when a trigger is activated.

total cyclical recording size is 600MB, then the camera
will record 100 les in the specied location (folder) and
then will delete the oldest le and create new le for
cyclical recording.
Please note that if the free HDD space is not enough, the
recording will stop. Before you set up this option please
make sure your HDD has enough space, and it is better to
not save other les in the same folder as recording les.
Here you can congure and schedule the recording settings. After making any changes,
