3 Get started
Charge DS3480
DS3480 has a built-in battery that can be
charged through the supplied AC/DC power
adapter.
1 Select a plug to insert into your adapter.
2 Connect the AC power adapter to:
• the power socket at the back of the
docking speaker.
• the wall outlet.
» Duringpowercharging,
ashesingreenifyouhaveswitched
on DS3480.

switched off DS3480.
» Whenthebatteryisfull,the is
always on in green if DS3480 is on; the
turns off if DS3480 is off.

Tip
•Whenthebatterylevelislow, ashesinred.
•Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge
cycles. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by
use and settings.

Play through the lightning
dock
With the lightning dock on DS3480,youcan
play from the following iPhone/ iPod:
•iPhone 5
•iPod touch (5th generation)
•iPod nano (7th generation)
1 Make sure that you have switched on
DS3480.
2 Mount your iPhone/ iPod onto the dock.
• Thersttimeyoumountyour
iPhone/ iPod onto DS3480,installthe
ClockStudio app on your iPhone/iPod
as prompted:
3 OnyouriPhone/iPod,startmusicplay.

•ToremovetheiPhone/iPod,pullitoutofthedock.

Play through Bluetooth
ThroughBluetooth,youcanplayonDS3480
fromaBluetoothdevice,suchasaniPad,
iPhone,Androidphone,orlaptop.
Connect through Bluetooth
1 On DS3480,press to switch on.
» TheBluetoothstatusindicatorashes.
DS3480 starts to pair or reconnect
through Bluetooth.
2 OnyourBluetoothdevice,activate
Bluetooth and search for Philips DS3480.
• Fortherst-timeconnection,select
Philips DS3480 to start pairing.
» Whentheconnectioniscomplete,the
Bluetooth indicator is always on in blue
and two beeps sound.
» Next time you switch on DS3480,the
speaker connects to the last paired
device automatically.
Tip
•To connect DS3480toanotherBluetoothdevice,
switch off Bluetooth on current Bluetooth device.
•To clear paired devices from DS3480,pressandhold
forveseconds.

Play from a Bluetooth device
1 Make sure that you have removed your
iPhone/ iPod from the lightning dock.
2 Aftersuccessfulconnection,startmusic
play on DS3480.
Note
•Make sure the distance between DS3480 and the
Bluetooth device is within 10 meters.
•The music streaming may be interrupted by obstacles
between the device and DS3480,suchaswalls,orother
devices nearby that operate in the same frequency.
Play through an audio cable
ThroughanMP3linkcable,youcanalsoplayon
DS3480fromanexternalaudiodevice,suchas
an MP3 player.
1 Use an MP3 link cable to connect DS3480
with an external audio device.
2 On DS3480,dothefollowing:
• Make sure that you have paused the
music on your iPhone/ iPod docked on
DS3480;
• Switch off Bluetooth on the Bluetooth
device that is connected to DS3480.
3 Ontheexternalaudiodevice,startmusic
play and change the volume.

Adjust the volume
• Press , repeatedly; or
• Press and hold , to increase or
decrease the volume quickly.

5 Charge
Charge through the lightning
dock
With the lightning dock on DS3480,youcan
charge your iPhone/ iPod when music play is on
or off.
1 Mount your iPhone/ iPod onto the
lightning dock on DS3480.
2 Connect DS3480 to power.

connector
With the USB connector on DS3480,youcan
charge your mobile phone.
1 Use a USB cable to connect DS3480 with
the external device.
2 Connect DS3480 to power.

6 Update the
firmware
With the ClockStudioapp on your iPhone/
iPod,youcanupdatethermwareofDS3480.
1 Make sure that your iPhone/ iPod is
connected to the Internet.
2 Mount the iPhone/ iPod onto the lightning
dock of DS3480.
» ClockStudio starts to search for
availablermwareupdate.
» Whenthermwareupdateisavailable,
a message is displayed.
3 Follow onscreen instructions to complete
rmwareupdating.

powered on and docked on DS3480.

Warning

No sound or poor sound
•Adjust the volume on the docking speaker.
•AdjustthevolumeonyouriOSdevice,
Bluetoothdevice,orotherexternaldevice.
No response from the
pressing of the keys on the
speaker
• Onthedockingspeaker,press and
simultaneously for 3 seconds. You can
restore the factory settings of the docking
speaker.
• DisconnectandreconnectACpower,and
then,switchonthedockingspeakeragain.
About Bluetooth connection
Cannot play music from my Bluetooth device
even after successful Bluetooth connection
•The Bluetooth device cannot work with
the speaker to play music.
ThesoundqualityispoorwhenIplaymusic
from a Bluetooth device.
•The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move
the Bluetooth device closer to the speaker
or remove the obstacles between the
Bluetooth device and the speaker.
CannotconnectmyBluetoothdevicewiththe
speaker
•The Bluetooth device does not support
theprolesthatarerequiredforthe
speaker.
•The Bluetooth function of the device is not
enabled. Refer to the user manual of the
device on how to enable the Bluetooth
function.
•The speaker is not in the pairing mode.
• The speaker is already connected with
another Bluetooth device. Switch off the
Bluetooth on that device and try again.
The paired device connects and disconnects
constantly.
•The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move
the Bluetooth device closer to the speaker
or remove the obstacles between the
Bluetooth device and the speaker.
•Onsomedevices,theBluetooth
connection can be deactivated
automatically for power-saving.
