Product capacity representation
Memory Capacity Representation
The memory capacity reported in the Chrome OS is less than the
actual capacity of memory. This is because BIOS or a video adapter
uses a portion of memory or claims it for further use.
(E.g., For 1 GB (=1,024 MB) memory installed, OS (Windows,
Chrome, etc.) may report the capacity as 1,022 MB or less)
Operating system and software support
If a problem occurs because of the reinstallation of other
operating systems (OS) or a previous version of an OS pre-installed
on this computer, or a software that does not support the OS, the
company will not provide technical support, a replacement or
refund, and if our service engineer visits you due to this problem, a
service charge will be applied.
Performance Restrictions
Online games and some games (3D, 2D) may not be supported
and Full HD video and some high bit rate HD video playback may
be slow and stutter on this computer.

Leaving the screen idle for extended periods may result
in afterimages (screen burn-in) or ghosting. Turn off the
screen when you are not using the computer.

recovery and operations, the available storage space

Search key
The Search key is located where the Caps Lock key is originally
placed on a traditional keyboard.
Press the Search key to launch the Launcher.
To change the Search key to the Caps Lock key, switch its function
to caps lock on the Settings window.

Touchpad
Use the touchpad to move the cursor or select an item.

Adjusting the touchpad settings
If the touchpad is too sensitive, adjust its reaction speed.

2 Pull out the tray gently from the tray slot.
Be careful to not hurt your fingertip while pulling out the
tray.
3 Place the SIM or USIM card on the tray with the gold-coloured
contacts facing downwards.
4 Gently press the SIM or USIM card into the tray to secure it and
insert the tray back into the tray slot.

Installing the SIM or USIM card
1 Insert the ejection pin into the hole on the tray to loosen the
tray.
Ensure that the ejection pin is perpendicular to the hole.
Otherwise, the device may be damaged.

Mobile data (LTE models only)
You can insert the SIM or USIM card so you can access the Internet
using your mobile data connection.
You may incur additional charges when using a mobile
network.

Memory card slot
Use a memory card to transfer data to other devices. You can use
data stored on your device, such as digital cameras, smartphones,
or tablets, on your computer, or you can take your saved data to
another device.
Memory cards are sold separately.
This computer supports the following types of memory cards.

Inserting a memory card
1 If a dummy card or a memory card adapter is inserted in the
memory card slot, remove it.
2 Insert a memory card into the memory card slot in the
indicated direction until it clicks.
3 A new tab opens and the list of files on the card appears.
4 Select a file to read the data for the file.
Removing a memory card
When you push the card, it clicks and disengages from the
memory card slot. Grasp the end of the card and pull it out of the
slot.

the Chrome OS.

Data on the card can be saved in the
Downloads

The maximum file size will vary depending on Chrome

2 Select to activate the Wi-Fi network feature.
The available Wi-Fi list will appear.

4 Enter a password, if necessary, and select
Connect
.
Once the computer has been connected to a wireless
network, it will attempt to connect to it automatically when
it is available. If you require a network password, contact the
system administrator.

If the Wi-Fi network is successfully connected, the
network icon ( ) will be displayed on the shelf.
•
If the Wi-Fi network is not properly connected, the
network icon ( ) will be displayed on the shelf.
•
The white part of the network icon on the shelf
represents the signal strength of the Wi-Fi network.
Wireless LAN
Connect the computer to a wireless network to use the Internet.
The pictures in this manual may differ from the actual
product depending on the wireless LAN device model.
About Access Point (AP)
An Access Point (AP) is a network device that bridges wired
and wireless LANs and corresponds to a wireless hub in a wired
network. Multiple devices can be connected to an AP.

Security slot
You can secure the computer by connecting a lock and cable to
the security slot.
Tie the lock and cable to a fixed object and install the other end of
the cable to the security slot.

(sold separately) and use a Nano Lock from Kensington.
If you use a lock other than a Nano lock, it cannot be
guaranteed to work properly. Your product may differ

All your applications, documents, and settings are synced to
your account and stored in the cloud. To customize the data

Your Chromebook is much safer than a regular computer.
Each webpage and application you visit runs in a restricted
environment. So if you visit an infected page, it can’t affect
the other tabs, applications, or anything else on your
Chromebook.

Less updating. More surfing.
When you turn your Chromebook on, it updates itself
automatically. All of your applications stay up-to-date, and
you get the latest and greatest version of the operating
system without having to think about it.

Usage Precautions

Some functions and screenshots are subject to change
depending on the Chrome OS version.
•
To sign-in, you need a Google Account-the same account
you use for Google services such as Gmail and Drive. Your
Chromebook uses your account information to automatically
sign you into apps and services. If you do not have a Google
Account, you can create one or log in with a guest account.
Some functions may not be available when signed in as a
guest.

When your Chromebook starts for the first time, updates may
be performed for a few minutes during the activation step.
Desktop
When you have completed the login, the desktop appears. Select
the icons on the shelf to launch various apps. You can also check
your notifications and personalize your computer even more by
configuring various settings.

Setting up your Chromebook
To set up your Chromebook, you will need a Google Account and
access to the internet.
If you don’t have a Google Account, create an account.
The setup process may be different depending on the OS
version being used.
1 Activating the computer.
1-1. Select a network. Detected networks are automatically
listed in the
Connect to network
menu.
1-2. Connect to a network.
1-3. Read and agree to the Google Chrome OS terms and
conditions and select
Accept and continue

If you do not have a Google Account, you can login as a
“Guest” by selecting

Store may not work depending on your computer

The Chrome Web Store items may or may not be free-
of-charge. Confirm that an item is free-of-charge or not

You have to install an app or extension that is
supported by the Chrome OS to use it. Before
downloading it, check if it is supported by the OS.
Using the Web Store
The Chrome Web Store offers a wide range of applications, games,
extensions, and themes that you can use to customize your
browser.

Extensions
: Custom features and functionality that you can
add to the browser.
•
Themes
: Changes the skin of the browser, to give it a bit more
style and flair.
•
Apps
: Offers powerful functionality that you’d expect from
desktop programs.
•
Games
: Lets you enjoy various games.
Items you installed are automatically synced to your account, so
you always have access to your applications and extensions.
To open the Chrome Web Store, launch the Chrome browser,
select the new tab button, and then select
Web Store
on the
frequently used websites list. You can also get to the store directly
by http://chrome.google.com/webstore.

to download free applications. To purchase and
download applications where charges apply, select the price
and follow the instructions.

Some applications may not be compatible with your
Chromebook.
•
If you want to use applications that you have previously
purchased through the Play Store, download them
again. Your Chromebook does not automatically
download your applications from the Play Store.

Using the Google Play Store
You can purchase and install various Android applications with
your Chromebook just as you would with other Android devices.

Recovery
Using the Recovery function, you can restore your Chromebook
when a problem occurs with your Chromebook. You can restore
your Chromebook after creating a restore image and using
a USB device or memory card. For more information, refer to

If you restore the Chromebook using a restore image, all
the data saved on the Chromebook will be deleted.

Printing on a Chromebook
If you are using the standard printer, add the printer on the
Chromebook Settings screen.
1 Select the status area on the shelf.
2 Select to open the Settings window and select
Advanced
.

and select next to
Add Printer
.
4 Enter the printer’s information and follow the on-screen
instructions to proceed with printer set up.

2 Open the display panel and press the Power button to turn
the power off.
3 Insert the memory card or the USB device containing the
restore image, and press both the Refresh button and the
Power button while holding down the
esc
key.
4 When the Chromebook restarts, follow the onscreen
instructions to complete the recovery process.
5 Remove the memory card or the USB device as instructed.
The Chromebook will be restarted and the recovery is
successfully completed.

Display brightness
Adjust the display brightness to reduce eye strain and save power.

decrease brightness or the key to increase brightness.
•
Whenever you press the or key, the display
brightness will be adjusted by one level.

Clean the display panel with a soft cloth lightly moistened
with computer cleansing detergent moving in one
direction.

Controlling volume using the shelf
1 Select the status area on the shelf.
2 Drag the adjustment bar to the desired volume.

Adjust the system volume or sound volume when playing music
or video.

Adjust the volume by pressing the key to turn down
the volume or the key to turn up the volume.
•
Whenever you press the or key, the volume will

press the key to unmute the sound.

Charging the battery
Fully charge the battery using the adapter before using
the computer for the first time, or when the computer is
completely discharged.
1 Connect the adapter to the USB Type-C port of the computer.
You can use the USB Type-C ports on either side of the
computer.

Fully charge the battery using the adapter before using the
computer for the first time.
•
Use only Samsung-approved adapters, batteries, and
cables. If you use unapproved adapters, the battery
cannot be charged or it may explode or damage the
computer.
•
Incorrectly connecting the charger may cause serious
damage to the computer.
•
This computer is equipped with an internal battery. The
battery is not user-serviceable or user-replaceable.
•
To safely remove or replace the battery, take the device
to a Samsung Service Center. You will be charged for
this service.
•
You can use the computer while it is charging, but
the battery charging time may increase. If the battery
temperature rises too much, the charging may stop as a
safety measure.
To restore the battery power after cutting it, connect the
adapter.

4 Unplug the adapter from the electric socket.
Do not allow the adapter to make contact with your skin
for a long time. A low-temperature burn may result.

If the battery is fully discharged, the computer will not
turn on immediately with the adapter. A minimum level of
battery power will be charged slowly for safety while the
