EasyIP Video Stream
•Vaddio EasyIP 10 Cameras use a unicast protocol to send video over standard data networks to
Vaddio EasyIP Decoders and to Vaddio EasyIP Mixers.
•This video stream uses about 150 Mbps of bandwidth per active decoding unit
•A single camera can send this video content to two devices at any one time. If a camera is paired
to a third decoder one of the first two decoders will unpair.
EasyIP Switch (AMS-1208P) Configuration
•The primary difference is the EasyIP version of the network switch comes configured with the
DHCP server enabled for ease of installation.
•If this network switch is plugged into another network there is a possibility there will be 2 DHCP
servers on the network at the same time. This can cause problems on the network. Best practice
is to avoid using the EasyIP version of the Luxul AMS-1208P on another network.
•The EasyIP Switch can be configured just like an AMS-1208P. Consult with Luxul documentation
or Vaddio support for more information on disabling the DHCP server if needed.
•In rare instances the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) in a Luxul switch can conflict with the
Spanning Tree Protocol used on a corporate network. It is a best practice to let the IT
department know you are going to use a Luxul network switch and for the IT department to test if
there are conflicts with STP. In most networks this will NOT be an issue.
•Some large deployments of Dante® networks may require QOS. Please follow the guidance on
Luxul’s web site for how to correctly configure QOS for Dante should you have a deployment with
more than 4 Dante devices. Similarly, Dante® devices can operated more efficiently on a network
by utilizing multicast. There are directions for configuring IGMP settings available through Luxul.

Networking Best Practices
•EasyIP was designed to run in almost any gigabit network environment. Typically, with small
systems, there is no need to reconfigure the network. Since EasyIP video is unicast there is no
need to enable special IGMP settings. The primary consideration is ensuring if there are
several cameras in one area with several decoders in a different area that the link between
them is substantial enough to accommodate the bandwidth. Try to design the network so not
more than 5 EasyIP camera video streams will traverse any one network link.
•Best practices for adding a Luxul switch to a larger network
oConfigure the admin password and secure it with a robust password. Create additional
users and passwords matching the needs of the system.
oConfigure VLAN settings to match those of the larger network. By default all ports on
the switch are assigned to VLAN 1.
oConfigure the IP Address of the network switch to be compatible with the IP address
scheme of the larger network. All Luxul switches will be sent from the factory with
192.168.0.3 or 192.168.0.4 as the default IP address. They can obtain addresses via
DHCP if configured to do so.
oIn most networks DHCP should be disabled on the Luxul network switch. By default a
Luxul switch will have DHCP disabled unless it is being sold as a Vaddio EasyIP
network switch. If the network switch is sold as a Vaddio EasyIP network switch and
the switch will be plugged into a corporate network it is a best practice to disable the
DHCP server prior to connecting the switch to the corporate network.
oIf the AV network should be segmented from the corporate network but still need
services from the corporate network it is a best practice to include a router between the
AV network switch(es) and the corporate network.
