ZoneFlex R710:
The Future is Now
April 2015
The Ruckus ZoneFlex™ R710 is the industry’s first Wi-Fi access point (AP)
based on Wave 2 features of the 802.11ac standard.
Businesses worldwide are going through a tremendous level of IT transform-
ation, at the heart of which is wireless connectivity. With 70% of new connected
devices today coming with Wi-Fi connectivity, mobile applications bring an
onslaught of new data to the Wi-Fi network. This creates new challenges for IT
managers: overextended Wi-Fi network capacity, degraded user experience, and
the need to maintain high availability and performance.
Such challenges cannot be solved with more APs or controllers. IT managers
run the risk of creating more interference, and increasing the burden of the IT
department to deploy and maintain the network. The solution is not to have
more, but to instead have better Wi-Fi technology.
How does the R710 help solve these challenges?
The new Ruckus ZoneFlex R710 is the first Wi-Fi access point to support
major technical advances in the 802.11ac standard.
Multi-user multiple input/multiple output (MU-MIMO) enables over two times
the density of mobile devices versus Wave 1, and aggregates data rates
exceeding two gigabits per second. Increased density frees up new capacity for
overextended Wi-Fi networks.
To enable optimal user experience, the ZoneFlex R710 delivers up to 5dB of
signal gain and aggregate data rates of over two gigabits per second (Gbps),
1,733 Mbps (@ 5 GHz) and 800 Mbps (@ 2.4 GHz).
The built-in USB port accommodates Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons
and other Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This, combined with Ruckus SPoT™
location-based services (LBS) and analytics, enable enterprises and service
providers to monetize their Wi-Fi investment through rich analytics and
location-based user engagement.
