that should be followed during installation and maintenance of the ATS.
The EATON ATS models that are covered in this manual are intended for installation
in an environment within 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F) and free of conductive contaminant.

1. Introduction
TheEATONAutomaticTransferSwitch(ATS)isahighavailabilityswitchdesignedforprovidingredundant
powerforsensitiveequipment.Itispoweredbytwoindependentpowersourcesandautomaticallymakes
a rapid switch from one source to the other when the power supply used to power its connected load fails.
ThisATSisdesignedtobeefcientandreliable.
UserscanknowEATONATS’spowerow,status,parametersfromtheLCDinterface.Besides,the
EATS16Nunithasanetworkinterfaceforuserstoreadandwriteparameters.Thenetworkinterfacecanbe
implementedviatheEthernetprotocolthroughanRJ45connector.

1.ElevatedOperatingAmbient-Ifinstalledinaclosedormulti-unitrackassembly,theoperatingambient
temperatureoftherackenvironmentmaybegreaterthanroomambient.Therefore,consideration
shouldbegiventoinstallingtheequipmentinanenvironmentcompatiblewiththemaximumambient
temperature(Tmax)speciedbythemanufacturer.
2. ReducedAirFlow-Installationoftheequipmentinarackshouldbesuchthattheamountofairow
required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.
3. MechanicalLoading-Mountingoftheequipmentintherackshouldbesuchthatahazardousconditionis
not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.
4. CircuitOverloading-Considerationshouldbegiventotheconnectionoftheequipmenttothesupply
circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply
wiring.Appropriateconsiderationofequipmentnameplateratingsshouldbeusedwhenaddressingthis
concern.
5.ReliableEarthing-Reliablegroundingofrack-mountedequipmentshouldbemaintained.Particular
attentionshouldbegiventosupplyconnectionsotherthandirectconnectionstothebranchcircuit(e.g.
use of power strips).
