This unit is intended for indoor use only. Sel ect a location sturdy enough to support the weight of t he
uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and the external battery pack (X LBP).

This uni t has fr ont and rear air ven ts. Allow adequate sp ace for proper ventilation.
Environmental Specifications
Environmental factors impact battery life. High temperatures, poor utilit y power, and frequent, short duration
disc harges will shorten battery life.

Installation
• The UPS can support up to five XLBPs.
• Always insta ll the XLBPs at the bottom of the rack wit h the UPS installed above the XLBPs.
• Connect al l battery strin gs. F ailure to do so may cause equipment damage.

Service
If the unit requires se rvice, do not return it to the dealer. Fol low these steps :
1. Review the Troubleshooting se ction of the manual to elimin ate common problems.
2. If the problem persists, contact APC by Schneider Electric Customer Support through the APC
by Schneider Electric Web site, www.apc.com.
a. Note the model number and seria l number and the date of purchase. The model and seri al
numbers ar e located on the r ear panel of the unit and are availabl e through the LCD displ ay
on select mode ls.
b. Call APC by Schneider Elec tric Customer Suppor t and a technician will atte mpt to sol ve
the problem over the phone. If this is not possible, the technician will issue a Returne d
Material Authoriza tion Number (R MA#).
c. If the unit is under warranty, the repairs are free.
d. Service p rocedures and returns may va ry internation ally. Refe r to the APC by Schneider
Electric Web site for country specific instructions.
3. Pack the unit in the original packaging whenever possible to avoid damage in transit. Never use
foam beads for packaging. Damage sustained in trans it is not covered under warra nty.
a. Always DISCONNECT THE UPS BATTERIES before shipping. The United States
Department of Transportation (DOT), and the International Air Transport
Association (IATA) r egulations require that UPS batteries be disconnected before
shipping. The internal batt erie s may remain in the UPS .
b. External Battery Pack produc ts are d eenergi zed when dis connected from the associated
UPS product. I t is not necessary to disco nnect the internal batteries for ship ping. Not all
units utilize an exter nal battery pack.
4. Write the RMA# provided by Customer Support on the outside of the package.
5. Return the unit by insured, prepaid carrier to the address provided by Customer Support.
Transport the unit
1. Shut down and disconnect all connected equipment.
2. Disconnect th e unit fr om utility power.
3. Disconnect all internal and external batterie s (if applicable ).
4. Follow the shipping instructions outline d in the Service section of this manual.

Two Year Factory Warranty
This warran ty applies only to t he prod ucts yo u purcha se for yo ur use in accorda nce wit h this manu al.
Terms of warranty
Sch neider Electric IT (SEIT) warrants i ts pro ducts to be free from def ects in ma terials and wo rkmanship for a period of two
years from the date of pu rchas e. SEIT w ill repair or replace defective products covered by this w arranty. This w arranty do es not
apply to eq ui pment th at has b een d amag ed by acci de nt, ne gl igence or mi sap pl icat ion or ha s be en a lter ed or modi fied i n an y way.
Repair or replace m ent of a de fective pro duct or pa rt thereof does not extend the ori ginal w arran ty period. Any parts furnished
und er this w arran ty may be new or factory-remanufactured. For cou ntry sp ecific w arranty inf ormat ion, refer t o the APC by
Schneider Electric We b site at www.apc.com.
Non-transferable warranty
This warranty extends onl y to the original purchaser who mus t have properly regi stered the pro duct. The product may be
registered at the APC by Schneider Electric Web site, www.apc.com.
Exclusions
SEIT shall not be liable under the w arran ty if its testing and exam ination disclose tha t the alleged def ect in the product does not
exist or was caused by end user’s or any third person’s misuse, negligence, improper installation or testing. Further, SEIT shall
not be liable under the warranty for unauthorized attem pts to repair or m odify wrong or i nadequa te electrical voltage or
con necti on, inappr op riat e on- si te oper at ion con dit ions , co rr osive atmos phe re , repai r , ins tall at ion, ex pos ur e to the el eme nts , Acts
of God , fire, t heft, or installation contrary to SE IT reco mmendations or speci fications or in any e vent if the SEIT serial number
has been altered, defac ed, or rem oved, or any othe r cause beyond th e range of the i nten ded use.
THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IM PLIED, BY OPERATION OF LAW OR OTHERWISE, OF
PRODUCTS SOLD, SERVICED OR FURNISHED UNDER THIS AGREEMENT OR IN CONNECTION
HEREWITH. SEIT DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTI ES OF MERCHANTABI LITY, SATISFACTION AND
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. SEIT EXPRESS WARRANTIES WILL NOT BE ENLARGED,
DIMINISHED, OR AFF ECTED BY AND NO OBLIGATION OR LIABILITY WILL ARISE OUT OF, SEIT
RENDERING OF TECHNICAL OR OTHER ADVICE OR SERVICE IN CONNECTION WITH THE P RODUCTS.
THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES AND REMEDIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER
WARRANTIES AND REMEDIES. THE WARRANTIES SET FORTH ABOVE CONSTITUTE SEIT’S SOLE
LIABILITY AND PURCHASER’S EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ANY BREACH OF SUCH WARRANTIES. SEIT

IN NO EVENT SHALL SEIT, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AFFILIATES OR EMPLOYEES BE LIABLE FOR
ANY FORM OF INDIRECT, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, ARISING OUT OF THE
USE, SER VICE OR INSTALLA TION, OF THE PRODUCTS, WHETHER SUCH DAMAGES ARISE IN CONTRACT
OR TORT, IRRESPECTIVE OF FAULT, NEGLIGENCE OR STRICT LIABILITY OR WHETHER SEIT HAS BEEN
