INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the INTELLINET NETWORK SOLUTIONS™ 8-Port Rackmount KVM Switch, Model 506441 or 16-Port Rackmount
KVM Switch, Model 506496. For a full list of specications, refer to the datasheets available at www.intellinet-network.com.
The USB and the PS/2 interface standard on both console side and PC side makes this switch especially useful in an environment with
mixed equipment; e.g., older computers with PS/2 connections and newer models featuring USB ports. With the ability to manage and
control multiple PS/2 or USB computers from a single console, you’ll also be able to enjoy these convenient features:

INSTALLATION
Rackmounting
To install the Rackmount KVM Switch in a standard 19” rack unit, simply screw the two
mounting brackets to the sides of the switch (screws and brackets included). NOTE: Two sets
of pre-drilled holes let you connect the brackets so either the front panel or the rear panel of
the switch is facing out. Then attach the two brackets to the rack.
Rear Panel Connections
Before making any power or network connections to the Rackmount KVM Switch, make sure that all devices in the conguration are
turned o and properly grounded.
1. Connect the USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse and the monitor of your command (console) computer to the corresponding plugs in
the console section of the switch’s rear panel (highlighted at
right).
2. Plug the HD15 connector on one of the included 4-in-1
connection cables into any of the PC ports to the right of the
console section on the rear panel of the switch, then plug the
keyboard/mouse and monitor connectors on the other end of the
connection cable into a computer to be included in the
conguration. Repeat this step for as many computers as you
desire and the switch allows (8 or 16 total). NOTE: The shape of these HD15 connectors has been modied so that only KVM cables
designed to work specically with this series of switches can be properly plugged in. Do not try to use ordinary 15-pin VGA connector
cables in your conguration.
3. Plug the included power adapter into the DC9V jack, then connect it to an AC power outlet and turn on the computers.
Front Panel Controls and Indicators
The port LEDs (1-3 are shown at right for reference) indicate the status of the ports as determined by using either the corresponding
buttons on the switch — below the LEDs — or the On-Screen
Display (OSD).
• The On Line LEDs light red to indicate that the computer
connected to the corresponding port is powered on.
• The Selected LEDs light green to indicate that the computer
connected to the corresponding port is the one currently
selected and controlled by the console.
• The Port Selection buttons can be pressed to select and control the computer connected to the corresponding port.
• The recessed Reset button can be pressed (using a pin or similar pointed object) to reset the switch if it isn’t responding.
OPERATION
Hot Plugging
The Rackmount KVM Switch supports hot Plug and Play: Computers can be removed from the conguration and added back into it
simply by disconnecting then re-connecting their cables from their PC ports — without the need to turn o the switch. The computer,
however, must be re-connected to the same port as before for this feature to work properly. NOTE: The console section doesn’t support
hot-plugging of a PS/2 keyboard or mouse.

Powering O and Restarting
If the switch needs to be turned o, follow these steps before turning it back on:
1. Turn o all computers attached to the switch.
2. If the switch is operating under external power, disconnect the power adapter from the switch.
3. Wait 10 seconds, then re-connect the power adapter and turn on the computers.
On-Screen Display (OSD)
In addition to selecting a networked computer by pressing its corresponding Port Selection button on the front panel of the switch, all
computer control and switching procedures can be performed using the On-Screen Display (OSD).
• To display the main menu, press <CTRL> on the keyboard twice.
• If the OSD menu is set as “Console locked,” you need to input a password each time the main menu appears. If no password has been
set, just press <Enter> to display the main menu. There are two passwords in the OSD: the user password, which is not pre-set; and the
factory password, which is “INTELLINET.”
• The OSD always starts at the List screen, with the highlight bar in the same position as when the OSD was exited.
Navigation
• To exit the OSD, press <Esc>.
• To move up and down through the menu one line at a time, use the Up and Down Arrow keys. If there are more listed entries than what
can appear on the main screen, the screen will scroll.
• To activate a port, move the highlight bar to it and press <Enter>.
• After you select a port, the OSD menu automatically disappears and the port currently selected is indicated.
Main Screen Headings
PN — This column lists the port numbers for all the CPU ports on the installation. The simplest way to access a particular computer is to
move the highlight bar to it, then press <Enter>.
QV — If a port has been selected for Quick View scanning,

displays in this column.
PC — If a computer is powered on and on line,

displays in this column.
NAME — Any name assigned to a computer appears in this column.
Functions
The OSD can be controlled and re-congured using the functions described below.
F1 GOTO — GOTO allows you to switch directly to a port by keying in either the
computer’s name or its port number (PN).
• To use the name, highlight “NAME,” press <Enter>, input the name of the computer,
then press <Enter> to conrm. If there is a matching name, it will display on the
screen. Press <Enter> to switch to that port.
• To use PN method, highlight “PN,” press <Enter>, input the port number, then press <Enter> to switch. If the port number is invalid,
it will prompt you to try again.
• To return to the main menu, press <Esc>.
F2 SCAN — This allows you to automatically scan from the current selected port through any active and connected computers. While
scanning, a small window on the screen indicates the current port number. To stop scanning (and continue viewing the last computer
scanned), press the space bar. The scan interval can be set by the user.
F3 LIST — This lets you broaden or narrow the range of ports displayed on the main screen. Many of the OSD functions described below
only operate on the computers listed on the main screen (selected by using this function).
• ALL lists all of the ports in the conguration.
• QVIEW lists only the ports that have been selected as Quick View ports.
• POWERED ON lists only the ports that have their attached computers powered on.
• POWERED ON + QVIEW lists only the ports that have their attached computers powered on and have been selected as Quick View
ports.
• QVIEW + NAME lists only the ports that have been selected as Quick View ports and have been assigned names.
• NAME lists only the ports that have been assigned names.
Highlight a function and press <Enter>. When the conrmation icon displays alongside your selection, press <Enter> to return to the
OSD main screen with the newly formulated list displayed.
F4 QV — This lets you select a port as Quick View. Highlight a port and press <F4>. The

icon displays to conrm your selection. Press
<F4> again and the icon disappears.
F5 EDIT — This lets you create or edit the name of a port. Press <F5> and a pink edit box will appear on the screen. Input a name, press
<Enter>, and the port name will be set and displayed.
F6 SET — This lets you congure the OSD menu. Highlight an option and press <Enter> to change settings.
• CHANNEL DISPLAY MODE oers three options for what appears in the tip window:
- PN + NAME
- PN (port number only)
- NAME
• CHANNEL DISPLAY DURATION oers two options for the length of time the tip window remains on the screen:
- 3 SECONDS
- ALWAYS ON
• CHANNEL DISPLAY POSITION lets you re-position the tip window. When the window appears on the screen, use the arrow keys to
move it, then press <Enter> to set the new position.
• SCAN DURATION oers eight options for the amount of time each connected computer is scanned, ranging from 3 to 60 seconds.
• SET PASSWORD lets you change the current password as directed on screen.
• CLEAR THE NAME LIST lets you remove any names assigned to the ports. NOTE: This requires a password.
• RESTORE DEFAULT VALUE lets you return to the default settings. NOTE: This requires a password. The user password will be cleared,
but not the factory password.
• LOCK CONSOLE means you cannot switch or scan once this function is activated. Selecting this same option when the console is
locked will unlock it. NOTE: Both of these options require a password.

INSTALLATION
Rack-Montage
Um den KVM-Umschalter in einem Standard-19”-Rack zu installieren, schrauben Sie einfach
die beiden Haltewinkel an den Seiten des Switches an (Schrauben und Haltewinkel im
Lieferumfang). HINWEIS: Zwei Sets vorgebohrter Löcher lassen Sie die Haltewinkel so
anbringen, dass sich entweder die Vorder- oder Rückseite des Switches außen bendet.
Befestigen Sie dann die beiden Haltewinkel am Rack.
Anschlüsse auf der Rückseite
Bevor Sie die Strom- oder Netzwerkverbindung zu dem KVM-Umschalter herstellen, stellen Sie sicher, dass alle Geräte der Konguration
ausgeschaltet und geerdet sind.
1. Schließen Sie USB- oder PS/2-Tastatur und Maus sowie Monitor
an die entsprechenden Anschlüsse der Konsole auf der Rückseite
an (siehe Markierung auf rechter Abbildung).
2. Schließen Sie den HD15-Stecker von einem der beiliegenden
4-in-1-Anschlusskabel an einen der PC-Ports, rechts auf der
Rückseite des Switches an, dann schließen Sie die drei Tastatur-/
Maus-/Monitoranschlüsse am anderen Ende des Kabels an einen
PC an, der der Konguration hinzugefügt werden soll. Diesen
Schritt können Sie beliebig entsprechend der Portanzahl wiederholen (8 oder 16 max.). HINWEIS: Die Form dieser HD15-Anschlüsse
wurde modiziert, so dass nur speziell für diese Switch-Reihe produzierte KVM-Kabel ordnungsgemäß angeschlossen werden können.
Verwenden Sie keine gewöhnlichen 15-pol. VGA-Stecker in Ihrer Konguration.
3. Schließen Sie das beiliegende Netzteil an die DC9V-Buchse und eine Steckdose an, dann schalten Sie die Computer ein.
Steuerung und Anzeigen auf der Vorderseite
Die Port-LEDs (1-3 als Beispiel auf Abbildung rechts) zeigen den Status der Ports, der entweder durch die entsprechenden Tasten unterhalb
der LEDs oder durch das On-Screen-Display (OSD).
• Die “On Line”-LEDs zeigen durch rotes Leuchten an, dass der
Computer an dem entsprechenden Port eingeschaltet ist.
• Die “Selected”-LEDs zeigen durch grünes Leuchten an, dass der
Computer an dem entsprechenden Port aktuell ausgewählt ist
und von der Konsole gesteuert wird.
• Mit den Port-Auswahltasten wählen Sie den PC an dem
entsprechenden Port aus.
• Der Reset-Knopf kann (mit einer Büroklammer oder ähnlichem) gedrückt werden, um den Switch zurückzusetzen, falls er nicht mehr
reagiert.
BETRIEB
Hot Plugging
Dieser KVM Umschalter unterstützt Hot Plug&Play: Computer können aus der Konguration entfernt oder wieder hinzugefügt werden,
indem Sie einfach ihre Kabel vom Port trennen bzw. wieder anschließen — all das ohne den Switch auszuschalten. Der Computer muss
allerdings an denselben Port wie zuvor angeschlossen werden, damit dies einwandfrei funktioniert. HINWEIS: Die Konsole unterstützt
kein Hot-Plugging von Tastatur oder Maus mit PS/2-Anschluss.

Ausschalten und Neustart
Muss der Switch ausgeschaltet werden, führen Sie folgende Schritte aus, bevor Sie ihn wieder einschalten:
1. Schalten Sie alle Computer aus, die an den Switch angeschlossen sind.
2. Wird der Switch mit externem Netzteil betrieben, trennen Sie das Netzteil vom Switch.
3. Warten Sie 10 Sekunden, dann schließen Sie das Netzteil erneut an und schalten Sie die Computer ein.
On-Screen Display (OSD) - Bildschirmmenü
Sie können Computer einfach durch die entsprechende Port-Auswahltaste auf der Vorderseite der Konsole auswählen, alle Steuerungs- und
Umschaltvorgänge können aber auch über das On-Screen Display (OSD) durchgeführt werden.
• Um das Hauptmenü einzublenden, drücken Sie zweimal die Taste <STRG>.
• Ist das Bildschirmmenü auf “Console locked” eingestellt, müssen Sie bei jedem Gang ins Hauptmenü ein Passwort eingeben. Sollte kein
Passwort benötigt werden, drücken Sie einfach <Enter>, um das Hauptmenü einzublenden. Es gibt zwei Passwörter im Bildschirmmenü:
das Benutzerpasswort, das nicht voreingestellt ist und das Passwort aus den Werkseinstellungen. Dieses lautet “INTELLINET.”
• Das Bildschirmmenü startet mit einer Liste, in der sich der Auswahlbalken immer an der selben Stelle wie zum Zeitpunkt des Verlassens
des Menüs bendet.

Kategorien des Hauptbildschirms
PN — Listet die Portnummern für alle CPU-Ports der Installation auf. Der einfachste Weg, um einen bestimmten PC auszuwählen ist ihn
mit dem Auswahlbalken zu markieren und dann <Enter> zu drücken.
QV — Ein Port wurde für Quick View (Vorschauansicht) ausgewählt

Functions

F3 LIST — Bestimmt die Anzahl der auf dem Hauptbildschirm angezeigten Ports. Viele der im Folgenden beschriebenen Bildschirmfunktionen
können nur mit auf dem Bildschirm angezeigten PCs verwendet werden (diese werden mit dieser Funktion ausgewählt).
• ALL zeigt die Ports aller angeschlossenen PCs.
• QVIEW zeigt die Ports, die mit Vorschauansicht ausgewählt wurden.
• POWERED ON zeigt nur die Ports, deren PCs eingeschaltet sind.

Markieren Sie eine Funktion und drücken Sie <Enter>. Wenn das Bestätigungssymbol erscheint, drücken Sie <Enter>, um zum
Hauptmenü zurückzukehren, das die neue Liste mit der neuen Darstellung enthält.
F4 QV — Wählt einen Port mit Vorschauansicht aus. Markieren Sie einen Port und drücken Sie <F4>. Das

La interfaz estandar USB y PS/2 en ambos lados, consola y PC hace especialmente util el switch en ambientes mixtos; Ejemplo, los

INSTALACION
Montaje en rack
Para Intalar el Switch KVM para montaje en rack 19” en una unidad de rack, solo debe jar los
los 2 soportes a los lados del witch (tornillos y soportes incluidos). NOTA: Los dos juegos de
agujeros previamente perforados le permiten conectar los soportes ya sea de manera frontal
o el panel posterior del interruptor quede hacia afuera. A continuación je los soportes al rack.
Conexiones Panel trasero
Antes de encender o hacer cualquier conexión al Switch KVM para montaje en rack, asegurese que todos los equipos esten apagados y
apropiadamente aterrizados.
1. Conecte un teclado y ratón USB o PS/2 y monitor a la consola de su comado (consola) y de la PC a los conectores en la seccion consola
del panel posterior del switch (Resaltado a la derecha).
2. Conecte el conector HD15 de uno de los cables 4 en 1 incluidos

OPERACION
Conexion en caliente
El Switch KVM para montaje en rack soporta Plug and Play: Las computadoras pueden ser removidas de la conguración y se puedena
añadir en ella simplemente desconectando y conectando de nuevo los cables de su puerto de PC — sin necesidad de apagar el switch.
El equipo, sin embargo, se debe volver a conectar al mismo puerto que antes de que esta característica funcione correctamente. NOTA:
La sección de la consola no admite conexión en calientea de un teclado ó ratón PS/2.

Apagado y reinicio
Si el switch necesita ser apagado, siga los siguientes pasos antes de encender de nuevo:
1. Apague todos los ordenadores conectados al switch.
2. Si el switch se encuentra operando bajo alimentación externa, desconecte el adaptador de corriente del Switch.
3. Espere 10 segundos y luego vuelva a conectar el adaptador de corriente y encienda los ordenadores.
Visualización en Pantalla (OSD)
Además de seleccionar un equipo en red pulsando su correspondiente botón de selección del puerto en el panel frontal del switch,
todas las PC’s pueden ser controladas y administradas usando On-Screen Display (OSD).
• Para mostrar el menú principal, oprima <Bloq Despl> en el teclado dos veces
• Si el menú OSD se establece como “Consola de bloqueo”, necesita introducir la contraseña cada vez que aparezca el menú principal.
Si no contraseña ha sido congurada, presione <Intro> para mostrar al menú principal. Hay dos claves en el menú OSD: la contraseña
de usuario, que no está preestablecido, y la contraseña de fábrica, que es “INTELLINET”.
• El OSD comienza siempre en la pantalla mostrando una lista, con la barra de resalte en la misma posición que cuando se salió de la OSD.
Navegación
• Para salir del OSD, presione <Esc>.

Resalte una función y pulse <Intro>. Cuando se muestra el icono de conrmación junto con su selección, pulse <Intro> para volver a
la pantalla principal del OSD con la lista de nueva formulación muestra.
F4 QV — Le permite seleccionar un puerto como Vista rápida. Resalte un puerto y presione <F4> para conrmar su selección con este

INSTALLATION
Montage en rack
An d’installer le commutateur KVM en rack standard 19”, vissez simplement les deux
équerres de montage aux côtés du commutateur (les vis et équerres sont inclus). NOTE: Deux
blocs de trous pré-percés vous permettent connecter les équerres d’une manière que le
panneau avant ou arrière du commutateur est orienté vers l’extérieur. Puis xez les deux
équerres au rack.
Connexions du panneau arrière
Avant d’alimenter ou connecter le Commutateur au réseau, assurez-vous que tous les dispositifs dans la conguration sont éteints et
mis à la terre proprement.
1. Connectez clavier/souris/écran USB ou PS/2 aux prises respectives du panneau arrière du commutateur (marquées sur l’image à droite).
2. Branchez le connecteur HD15 via un des cordons 4 en 1 inclus
à un des ports PC à droite du panneau arrière de la console, puis
branchez les connecteurs clavier/souris/écran du cordon à
l’ordinateur qui doit être inclus dans la conguration. Répétez
cette étape pour autant d’ordinateurs que vous voudriez et que
le commutateur permet (8 ou 16 max.). NOTE: La forme de ces
connecteurs HD15 est modiée d’une manière qu’uniquement
des câbles KVM conçus spéciquement pour cette série de
commutateurs peuvent être branchés proprement. N’essayez pas
d’utiliser des câbles avec des connecteurs à 15 broches VGA ordinaires dans votre conguration.
3. Branchez l’adapteur secteur à la prise DC9V et à une prise d’alimentation CA, puis démarrez les ordinateurs.
Contrôles et achage du panneau avant
Les DEL de port (cf. par exemple 1-3 sur l’image à droite) achent l’état des ports qui est déterminé par l’utilisation des boutons respectifs
au commutateur — au dessous des DEL — ou l’achage à l‘écran
du menu contextuel (OSD).
• Les DEL “On Line” s’allument rouge pour acher que l’ordinateur
connecté au port respectif est alimenté.
• Les DEL s’allument vert pour acher que l’ordinateur connecté
au port respectif est celui qui est actuellement sélectionné et
contrôlé via la console.
• Les boutons de sélection des ports peuvent être appuyés pour contrôler l’ordinateur connecté au port respectif.
• Le bouton de reset peut être appuyé (avec un trombone ou un objet similaire) si le commutateur ne réagit pas.
EMPLOI
Connexion à chaud
Le commutateur KVM prend en charge Plug and Play à chaud: Des ordinateurs peuvent être enlevés de la conguration et reconnectés
simplement en connectant leurs câbles au port PC respectif — sans devoir éteindre l’ordinateur. Cependant, l’ordinateur doit être
reconnecté au même port qu’avant pour fonctionner proprement. NOTE: La console ne supporte pas la connexion à chaud d’un clavier
ou d’une souris PS/2.

Éteindre et redémarrer
Si le commutateur doit être éteint, suivez les étapes ci-dessous avant de le redémarrer:
1. Éteignez tous les ordinateurs connectés au commutateur.
2. Si le commutateur est opéré avec l’alimentation externe, déconnectez l’adaptateur secteur du commutateur.
3. Attendez 10 secondes, puis re-connectez l’adaptateur secteur et démarrez les ordinateurs.
On-Screen Display (OSD) - Achage à l’écran
En plus de sélectionner des ordinateurs de réseau par appuyer sur son bouton de sélection sur le panneau avant du commutateur, tous
les processus de contrôler et commuter peuvent être exécuté en utilisant l’achage à l’écran (OSD).

• Si le menu OSD est ajusté à “Console locked,” vous devez entrer un mot de passe chaque fois que le menu principal apparaît. Si vous

INSTALACJA
Montaż rackowy
Aby zamocować Przełącznik KVM w szae rackowej 19”, należy najpierw przykręcić uchwyty
po obydwu stronach przełącznika (uchwyty oraz śrubki znajdują się w zestawie). UWAGA:
Otwory w przełączniku pozwalają przykręcić uchwyty zarówno z przodu, jak i z tyłu
przełącznika. Następnie uchwyty wraz z przełącznikiem należy przykręcić do racków w szae.
Porty na tylnym panelu przełącznika
Przed podłączeniem jakiegokolwiek urządzenia do przełącznika KVM, należy się upewnić, że są one wyłączone oraz prawidłowo uziemione.
1. Do odpowiednich portów na tylnym panelu przełącznika podłącz myszkę i klawiaturę w standardzie PS/2 lub USB oraz monitor (porty
konsoli zaznaczono na obrazku po prawej stronie).
2. Podłącz złącze HD15 jednego z dołączonych kabli do portu PC na
tylnym panelu przełącznika (porty PC znajdują się na prawo od
portów konsoli). Następnie drugi koniec kabla podłącz po portów
myszy / klawiatury oraz monitora w komputerze, który ma być
zarządzany poprzez przełącznik. Powyższą czynność powtórz dla
pozostałych komputerów (8 lub 16 sztuk). UWAGA: Złącza HD15
dołączonych kabli zostały zmodykowane i nadają się tylko do
współpracy z przełącznikami z opisywanej serii. Nie należy także używać zwykłych 15-pinowych kabli VGA.

Przyciski oraz wskaźniki na przednim panelu przełącznika
Diody sygnalizacyjne (1-3 przedstawiono na obrazku po prawej stronie) informują o statusie wybranego portu. Porty można wybierać
poprzez wciśnięcie przycisku odpowiadającego danemu portowi
lub z poziomu menu OSD.
• Dioda On Line świeci na czerwono sygnalizując zasilanie
komputera podłączonego do określonego portu.
• Dioda Selected świeci na zielono sygnalizując, że komputer
podłączony do określonego portu jest aktualnie wybrany do
zarządzania poprzez konsolę.
• Przyciski pod diodami służą do wyboru określonego komputera w celu zarządzania nim z poziomu konsoli.
• Znajdujący się w zagłębieniu przycisk Reset należy wcisnąć cienkim narzędziem, aby zresetować przełącznik.
KONFIGURACJA
Hot Plugging
Rackowy Przełącznik KVM obsługuje funkcję Hot Plug and Play - komputery mogą być odłączane lub podłączane poprzez proste

Wyłączanie oraz restartowanie przełącznika
Jeśli przełącznik musi być wyłączony, wykonaj następujące czynności przed jego ponownym włączeniem:
1. Wyłącz wszystkie komputery podłączone do przełącznika.
2. Odłącz adapter zasilania od przełącznika.
3. Odczekaj 10 sekund, następnie podłącz adapter zasilania i włącz komputery.
Menu OSD
Poza wyborem komputera poprzez wciśnięcie odpowiedniego przycisku na przednim panelu przełącznika, zarządzanie wszystkimi

NETWORK SOLUTIONS™. Per una lista completa delle speciche, fare riferimento alla scheda tecnica disponibile sul sito www.intellinet-

L’interfaccia standard USB e PS/2 presenti sia sul lato console che su quello PC rende questo switch specialmente utile in situazioni con
apparati misti; per esempio., vecchi computer con connessioni PS/2 e i più recenti modelli caratterizzati da porte USB. Con la possibilità
di gestire e controllare multipli computer PS/2 o USB da una singola console, potrete anche trarre vantaggio dalle seguenti caratteristiche:

INSTALLAZIONE
Montaggio a rack
Per installare il KVM Switch in una unità rack standard 19”, semplicemente avvitare le due
stae di montaggio ai lati dello switch (viti e stae sono incluse). NOTA: Due set di fori
permettono di collegare le stae sia sul pannello frontale che su quello posteriore dello switch. Quindi collegare le due stae al rack.
Connessioni del pannello posteriore
Prima di collegare il KVM Switch alla rete o all’ alimentazione, assicurarsi che tutte le periferiche della congurazione siano spente e
correttamente messe a terra.
1. Collegare tastiera e mouse USB o PS/2 e il monitor del vostro computer di commando (console) ai plug corrispondenti nella sezione
console del pannello posteriore dello switch (evidenziato a destra).
2. Collegare il connettore HD15 presente su uno dei cavi di
collegamento 4-in-1 incluso alle porte PC nella parte destra della
sezione console nel retro dello switch, quindi collegare i connettori
di tastiera/mouse e monitor sull’altra parte terminale del cavo di
collegamento ad un computer incluso nella congurazione.
Ripetere l’operazione per tutti i computer che si desidera e
comunque per quanti permessi dallo switch (8 o 16 totali). NOTA:
La forma di questi connettori HD15 è stata modicata così che solo questi cavi per KVM possono essere inseriti
correttamente in quanto sono stati disegnati specicatamente per lavorare con questa serie di switch. Non provate ad utilizzare cavi
con connettori 15-pin VGA ordinari nella vostra congurazione.
3. Collegare l’alimentatore incluso alla presa DC9V, quindi collegarlo alla presa di corrente AC e accendere i computer.
Controlli sul pannello frontale e indicatori
I LED della porta (1-3 sono mostrate a sinistra per vostro riferimento) indicano lo stato delle porte, essendo quest’ultimo determinato
dall’uso sia dei tasti corrispondenti sullo switch — sotto i LED — sia
dall’ On-Screen Dispaly (OSD).
• I led On Line si illuminano di rosso per indicare che il computer
connesso alla corrispondente porta è accesso.
• I led Selected si illuminano di verde per indicare che il computer
collegato alla corrispondente porta è quello correntemente
selezionato e controllato dalla console.
• I tasti Port Selection possono essere premuti per selezionare e controllare il computer connesso alla corrispondente porta.
• Il tasto rientrante Reset può essere premuto (usando uno spillo o un simile oggetto appuntito) per resettare lo switch se questo non
risponde.
FUNZIONAMENTO
Hot Plugging
Il KVM Switch supporta hot Plug and Play: I computer possono essere rimossi dalla congurazione o aggiunti nuovamente semplicemente
scollegando e quindi ricollegando i rispettivi cavi dalla porte dei PC — senza che sia necessario spegnere lo switch. Il computer, comunque,
deve essere ricollegato alla stessa porta di prima perché questa funzione lavori correttamente. NOTA: La sezione console non supporta
la rimozione e connessione a caldo di mouse o tastiera PS/2.

Spegnimento e Riavvio
Se è necessario spegnere lo switch, seguire la seguente procedura prima di far ripartire l’apparecchiatura:
1. Spegnere tutti i computer collegati allo switch.
2. Se lo switch sta funzionando sotto un alimentatore esterno, disconnettere l’alimentatore dallo switch.
3. Attendere 10 secondi, quindi ricollegare l’alimentatore e accendere i computer.
On-Screen Display (OSD)
In aggiunta alla possibilità di selezionare un computer della rete premendo il tasto corrispondente alla Selezione della Porta sul pannello
frontale dello switch, tutte le procedure di controllo e di selezione del computer possono essere eseguite usando l’On-Screen Display (OSD).
• Per visualizzare il menu principale, premere <CTRL> due volte sulla tastiera.
• Se il menu OSD è impostato come “Console locked,” è necessario inserire una password ogni volta che il menu principale appare. Se
nessuna password è stata impostata, premere solamente <Enter> per far comparire il menu principale. Ci sono due password nell’ OSD:
la password utente, che non è pre-settata; e la password di fabbrica, che è “INTELLINET.”
• L’OSD si avvia sempre dalla stessa posizione dell’ultima visualizzazione eettuata prima di uscire.
Navigazione
• Per uscira dall’OSD, premere <Esc>.
• Per muoversi su e giù nel menu di una linea alla volta, utilizzare i tasti delle frecce in alto e in basso. Se ci sono troppe voci elencate
rispetto a quelle che possono essere visualizzate sullo schermo principale, la schermata scorrerà.
• Per attivare una porta, muovere la barra evidenziatrice su questa e premere <Enter>.
• Dopo aver selezionato una porta, il menu OSD automaticamente scomparirà e viene indicata la porta appena selezionata.
Intestazioni dello schermo principale
PN — Questa colonna elenca i numeri delle porte per tutte le porte CPU
sull’installazione. La via più semplice per accedere ad un particolare computer e di
muovere la barra evidenziatrice su di questo e quindi premere <Enter>.
QV — Se una porta è stata selezionata per Quick View scanning, il simbolo

NAME — Qualsiasi nome assegnato ad un computer appare in questa colonna.
Funzioni
L’OSD può essere controllato e ricongurato usando le funzioni descritte di seguito.
F1 GOTO — GOTO permette di passare direttamente ad una porta digitando o il nome del
computer o il suo numero di porta (PN).
• Per usare il nome, evidenziare “NAME,” premere <Enter>, inserire il nome del computer, quindi premere <Enter> per confermare. Se
c’è una corrispondenza di nome, verrà visualizzata sullo schermo. Premere <Enter> per passare a quella porta.
• Per usare il metodo del numero della porta (PN), evidenziare “PN,” premere <Enter>, inserire il numero di porta, quindi premere
<Enter> per cambiare. Se il numero della porta non è valido, verrà prontamente richiesto di provare di nuovo.
• Per ritornare al menu principale, premere <Esc>.
F2 SCAN — Questo permette di scansionare la corrente porta selezionata attraverso qualsiasi computer attivo e connesso. Mentre si eettua
la scansione, una piccola nestra sullo schermo indica il numero della porta corrente. Per terminare la scansione (e continuare a visualizzare
l’ultimo computer scansionato) premere la barra spaziatrice. L’intervallo di scansione può essere impostato dall’utente.
F3 LIST — Questo permette di allargare o restringere il range delle porte visualizzate sullo schermo principale. Molte delle funzioni OSD
descritte sotto operano solo sui computer elencati sul menu principale (selezionati usando questa funzione).
• ALL elenca tutte le porte nella congurazione.
• QVIEW elenca solo le porte che sono state selezionate come porte Quick View.
• POWERED ON elenca solo le porte che hanno i corrispondenti computer accesi.
• POWERED ON + QVIEW elenca solo le porte che hanno i loro computer collegati accesi e che sono stati selezionati come porte Quick View.
• QVIEW + NAME elenca solo le porte che sono state selezionate come porte Quick View ports e a cui sono stati assegnati dei nomi.
• NAME elenca solo le porte a cui sono stati assegnati i nomi.
Evidenziare una funzione e premere <Enter>. Quando l’icona di conferma appare a anco alla selezione, premere <Enter> per ritornare
al menu principale OSD con la lista appena formulata visualizzata.
F4 QV — Questo permette di visualizzare una porta come Quick View. Evidenziare una porta e premere <F4>. L’icona

confermare la selezione. Premere <F4> di nuovo e l’icona scompare.
