WARNING! To prevent strangulation with the
power cord, always keep the baby unit and the
power cord out of baby’s reach, at least 3.5
feet/1 meter away. Do not use extension cords.

For the baby unit, use the non-
manual.
For the parent unit, use only the
rechargeable battery pack supplied with
the baby monitor. Charge the rechargeable
battery pack as described in this user
manual.
To prevent battery explosion or leakage,
which can damage the baby monitor and
cause burns and skin or eye irritation:
do not mix batteries (old and new or
carbon and alkaline, etc.),
do not recharge non-rechargeable
batteries,
insert batteries in the right direction
(+/-),
remove batteries if you are not going
to use the product for more than 30
days,
keep batteries (battery pack or
batteries installed) away from excessive
remove batteries as soon as they run
out of power.
To prevent batteries from heating up or
releasing toxic materials, hydrogen, or
oxygen, do not:
overcharge,
short circuit,
reverse charge, or
mutilate batteries.
When you are handling batteries, take care
not to create a short circuit with the metal

This baby monitor is intended as an aid.
It is not a substitute for responsible and
proper adult supervision and should not
be used as such.
Never place the baby unit inside the baby
bed or playpen.
When your baby monitor uses a power
outlet, make sure that you can easily access
the power outlet.
For their safety, do not allow children to
play with the baby monitor.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Do not immerse the parent unit or baby
unit in water, and do not clean them under
the tap.
Do not use cleaning spray or liquid
cleaners.
Unplug the parent unit and baby unit if
they are connected to a power outlet.
When you unplug the parent unit or baby
unit, do not pull the cord. Pull the adapter
head.
Clean the parent unit and baby unit with a
damp cloth.
Clean the adapters with a dry cloth.
This baby monitor has no other user-
serviceable parts.
Storage precautions
Use and store the baby monitor between
50°F (10°C) and 95°F (35°C). Keep the
baby monitor out of direct sunlight.
If you store batteries in a fridge or freezer,
protect them from condensation during
storage and defrosting. Before you use
the batteries, let them return to room
temperature.
Disposal
Dispose of batteries properly. Do not
incinerate. Batteries may explode if
overheated. Do not wrap in metal or
aluminum foil. Wrap in newspaper before
discarding.
It is suggested that you contact your local
town or city to determine proper battery
redemption site(s) in your area.

4 Get started
Connect the baby unit to
power
You can connect the baby unit to a power
supply or insert non-rechargeable batteries to
operate it. Insert non-rechargeable batteries
to guarantee an automatic backup in case of
power supply failure.
1 Before you connect the baby unit to a
power supply, remove the lid of the battery
compartment.
2 Insert four non-rechargeable 1.5V R6 AA
batteries with the correct polarity (+/-) as
indicated.
3 Reattach the lid.
4 Connect a supplied adapter to the baby
unit and to a power supply.
Charge the parent unit
Note
Make sure that the parent unit is disconnected from the
power supply and turned off.
1 Remove the lid of the battery
compartment.
2 Insert the supplied rechargeable battery
pack with the correct polarity (+/-) as
indicated.
3 Reattach the lid.
4 Connect a supplied adapter to the parent
unit and to a power supply to start
charging.
Tip
The battery pack only reaches the full capacity after
you charge it for four times.

5 Use your baby
monitor
Link the parent unit to the baby unit:
1 Press and hold on the baby unit for two
seconds.
» The baby unit turns on, and all
indicators on the baby unit light up
2 Press and hold on the parent unit for
two seconds.

indicators on the parent unit light up

Tip
It takes about 15 seconds to establish the link between
the parent unit and the baby unit.
Position the baby monitor:
Note
For the optimal monitoring performance, keep the baby
unit 1 to 2 metres (3.5 to 7 feet) away from the baby.
Place the baby unit away from window or noisy
sources, like a fan, TV, or radio.
The baby unit should always face towards the baby.
1 Keep the baby unit and the power cord at
least 3.5 feet/1 meter away from your baby.
2 Keep the parent unit at least 5 feet/1.5
meter away from the baby unit to prevent
acoustic feedback.
3 Use the parent unit in the operating range
of the baby unit. Place the parent unit close
by for better sound performance.
Tip
When the parent unit is out of range of the baby
unit, the parent unit beeps from time to time. The link

Operating range
In normal mode:
Outdoors: up to 1000 feet/330 meters
Indoors: up to 150 feet/50 meters
In ECO mode:
Outdoors: up to 850 feet/260 meters
The operating range varies depending on
the surroundings and other factors that
cause interference. For interference from
wet and moist materials, the range loss
is up to 100%. For interference from dry
materials, see the following table:

Change the microphone
sensitivity
You can change the microphone sensitivity of the
baby unit can go to sleep mode if the surrounding
sound is continuously low and only a louder sound
can wake it. At level 5, the baby unit is in constant
monitoring mode and will not go to sleep mode.

Make sure that the parent unit is linked to the baby unit.
1 To enable ECO mode, press and hold
on the parent unit for two seconds.

for two seconds.

Reset the baby monitor
To reset the parent unit:
1 Press and hold to turn off the parent unit.
2 Press and hold on the parent unit.
3 When you hold , turn on the parent unit.
» The parent unit is reset.
To reset the baby unit:
1 Follow the same procedure as you reset
the parent unit.

Optimize the battery life of
the parent unit
Recharge the parent unit when you see
the low battery icon or hear the low
battery alert tone. Fully recharge the
parent unit before you use it again, as
completely draining the rechargeable
batteries may reduce their life.
Remove the rechargeable batteries from
the parent unit if you are not going to use
it for a week or longer.
Always fully recharge the parent unit after
a long period of disuse.
Remove the parent unit from the charging
dock after it is fully charged.
If you experience any issue with the
rechargeable batteries of your parent unit,
you may contact your dealer or a Philips
service centre.

Full two-year warranty
Philips Electronics North America Corporation
(USA) and Philips Electronics Ltd (Canada)
warrant each new Philips AVENT product,
model SCD505/00, against defects in materials
or workmanship for a period of two years from
the date of purchase, and agree to repair or
replace any defective product without charge.
Important: This warranty does not cover
damage resulting from accident, misuse or
any attachment not provided with the product.
No responsibility is assumed for any special,
incidental or consequential damages. In order
to obtain warranty service, simply call toll-free
